Clash of the Titans (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy)
July 29, 2010Overall, I think there were a lot of missed opportunities with this "Clash of the Titans" remake.
Repo Men (Unrated) (Blu-ray)
July 29, 2010I'd recommend "Repo Men" to fans of Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, fans of sci-fi, and anyone that likes gory comedy. And take my word for it, this is a gory film.
Cop Out: Rock Out With Your Glock Out Edition (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy)
July 29, 2010If you're looking for a buddy cop movie and you can put up with Tracy Morgan for 107 minutes, then you'll probably find "Cop Out" worth checking out.
The Losers (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy)
July 29, 2010"The Losers" is well worth checking out on the big screen. It's a fine addition to the "popcorn flick" genre.
Greenberg (Blu-ray)
July 29, 2010Who would I recommend "Greenberg" to? Just indie cinema fans and not many other people. They're the only ones that will enjoy the film's quirks. Fans of Stiller's more mainstream films will probably want to pass on this because he's not his usual wacky self that you see in "Meet The Parents", "Tropic Thunder", etc.
Our Family Wedding
July 29, 2010The bonus features on this DVD are quite light. You'll only find a gag reel and a few deleted or extended scenes. Considering the movie is already an hour and 43 minutes long, I'm surprised there was any remaining footage.
Hot Tub Time Machine (Unrated)
July 29, 2010Even if this wasn't a time travel film, you'd still say this comedy was a throwback to the 80's. It has all the sex, drugs, and raunch you'd expect from an R-rated comedy of that time. But combine that with the sensibilities of a modern adult comedy and you have "Hot Tub Time Machine". The title alone tells you that it doesn't take itself seriously. Once you accept that, there's nothing it throws at you that you aren't onboard for. And believe me, it throws a lot of outrageousness your way.
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
July 29, 2010"Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" was an unexpected pleasant surprise. If you are into Greek mythology it is required viewing. If you like "Harry Potter," I think you'll enjoy this, too. I can't say how it compared to the book, but I think fans of the series will be pleased.
Predator: Ultimate Hunter Collection (Blu-ray)
July 29, 2010"Predator" has already been released on Blu-ray once back in 2008, but it didn't have any of the bonus features that this "Ultimate Hunter Edition" does. If you're a "Predator" fan like me, then you probably already own the 2-Disc "Collector's Edition" DVD which was released in 2004. All of the bonus features on that are included here. We get John McTiernan's commentary, the " If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It" featurette, the deleted scenes, etc. So what's new? We get "Predator: Evolution Of A Species" and a sneak peek at the "Predators" sequel. Both are interesting and feature Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal. They talk about their favorite moments from the first film, how it influenced the sequels, and more. It's not reason alone to buy the Blu-ray if you already own the DVD, but I think any owner of a Blu-ray player will want to add "Predator" to their collection. If you're going to buy it, this is the version to get.
